This rare antique Eppelsheimer E & Co, possibly designed by Joseph Micelli Sr. Is in the shape of a dog. The pewter mold was used for creating chocolate, candy, or ice cream treats. The hinged mold is an original piece from the early 20th century. The charming design features a dog and adds a touch of nostalgia to your kitchen collection. Antique heavy pewter George Washington ice cream chocolate Eppelsheimer mold #1024. Design: The mold features a detailed bust of General George Washington. Number: The number “1084” is likely a mold or design number. Usage: These molds were used for creating chocolates, candies, or ice cream figures. In 1897 Alfred Cralle of the United States was issued a patent on an ice cream mold. The molds were produced in a variety of shapes including animals, fruit, flowers and holiday figures and symbols. Political and romantic themes were not overlooked. George Washington’s likeness was often used. Eppelsheimer Mold Manufacturing Co. Which was located in New York City created molds of every theme and design imaginable, and were celebrated for their wonderful detail. Each piece displayed their signature E & Co, NY, which was stamped on one side of the mold. The catalog number was also stamped on each piece. Molds were equipped with soldered hinges.

This is a rare, antique American pewter mold in the shape of Father Knickerbocker, the symbol of New York City. This is a very heavy mold done in three sections. The figure of a man’s head with colonial style hat and colonial hair (see pony-style hair in back section). The back section has the mark of the Eppelsheimer co. With no mold number. Although we did not see a mold number on the object, with the information from another eBayer, it is Eppelsheimers, 994. This is the only example of this type we have seen. H: 4 ½”, W: 4 ½”.
