This antique Jelly cake mold is stamped Jones Bros Down. This mold is from before 1900. Very nice shape and condition. It has aged graciously, resulting in rich, beautiful, and distinctive patina colors. Ornate, and uniquely designed. Jones Bros of Down Street, West London was one of the best-known ironmongers who supplied the Duke of Wellington. Jones Bros was located on Down St. It was in business between 1832 and 1900. Jones Bros was well known for its quality copper cookware and medical sterilizing copper-ware, with signature marks Jones Bros. Stamped in a circle and engraved A. Fancy late Victorian c1880s-1910 era tower mould for ice cream I’m pretty certain, never saw one like it before. Beautifully constructed to last. About 6.5 inches tall, about 5 inches across cuffed open bottom, tapering up to about 3 inches across cuffed top. 5 puffy hearts adorn the 5 sided body, one per panel, each about 1.5+ inches by about 1.25+ inches. Plated exterior shows use wear patina, still has original shine on interior, clean. No breaks, corrosion or repair, well constructed and sturdy. Not sure what the base metal is, pewter? No marks as to origin found. Most likely American, English or other European maker. Antique late 1800s, early 1900s hotel chef quality round antique tin plate food mold with 10 pointed heart decoration all around. About 7 inches across opening, about 3 inches high to tip of heart. Good heft, no damage or repair, original round wire hang ring, most of the original tin plate intact with a nice warm old patina. Not used much from what I can see. Austria 77 etched near ring. A very nice example of this type of antique food mold. We’ve had quite a few and this smaller size is not easy to find with its old farmhouse kitchen graphic folkart appeal.
