Antique 1887 French Animal Chocolate Mold Mould Sommet Marked & Dated

A sheet with many molds to make a zoo of tiny edible chocolate animals. Heavy metal sheet was pressed into a mold with animal forms to fill with chocolate. There are elephants, pigs, rabbits, chickens, turtles, rhinos, lions, swans, pheasants, and crocodiles. There is a hole at the top for hanging. It was made in France by the Parisian chocolate mold maker, Sommet and dated 1887. There is an impressed mark in the center of the back that reads FRANCE with a diamond shape and the number. There is also a dancing dolphin shape and the number 373. 12 5/8″ (32.1 cm) long x 7 ¾” (18.6 cm) wide x 3/8. Weighs 1 lb 0.9 oz (480 g). There are no breaks, cracks, or dents. The finish has discolored with use over the years and now has a brownish tone, especially on the right side. There are some scratches to the edges of the sheet. A fun and useful item to use in the kitchen to make little chocolate animals. It could also be used for butter or other confections. Antique French Art Deco Stork Chocolate Mold Marked 14.6 cm

An antique chocolate mold in the shape of the white stork of France. It can still be used today to mold chocolate or even butter. Can you imagine all the little stork chocolates and butters for a baby shower? The tin metal form in the shape of a stork was used to make chocolate figures. The stork is a good luck symbol in France and delivering babies in the US. The mold has been painted with a black paint. It has a hole at the top for hanging and two raised bumps on alternate sides to fit indents on the other sides. The base is a round hole to fill and let excess chocolate out. There is a notch on one side to tie the pieces together. The word FRANCE is stamped above a wing on one side. There is also a diamond shape with the number 23 within and a production number of 55. 5 ¾” (14.6 cm) tall x 4″ (10.2 cm) wide x 1 7/8 (4.8 cm) thick. Weighs 3.7 oz (105 g). There are no breaks, cracks, or dents. There are significant paint losses on both the inside and outside. There is obvious wear from use and age, the tinning is not worn but they will need cleaning as there seems to be some specs of verdigree on some of them.
