This mold has a great aged look to both the metal front and the wooden back. There is a separation through the center of the wooden back. This is an antique metal Springerle cookie mold, featuring 12 medieval German guildsmen. Springerle are a type of South German biscuit or cookie with an embossed design. The design is created by pressing the mold onto rolled dough and allowing the impression to dry before baking. These cookies were traditionally made for religious holidays and secular occasions, but are now most commonly associated with Christmas.

This press can be used as a mold to make cookies with. It has a food-safe finish. Perfect for making Springerle or spice cookies with your kids or grandkids. This was SO hard to photograph as I didn’t want to remove it from the sealed plastic, so forgive my awful photos. This is brand new and includes a recipe book as well as the beautiful wooden mold.
