Rare antique metal chocolate tin mold Santa, German Belsnickle, Primitive Country Father Christmas. This detailed antique chocolate candy mold has beautiful movement, detailing, and expression which allows for the finished piece to have a wonderfully exaggerated posture and head tilt as if to be looking slightly upwards. The Belsnickel has his hand in the textured bag full of apples he carries at his side. The mold is marked with the catalog number of 10281 and measures approx. 6 1/2″ x 3″ at widest points. Antique Chocolate Mold (Schokoladenform) Santa, German Belsnickle Marked LAROUSCH SCHW. This large European Father Christmas mold wears a hooded cape and carries a toy sack at his side with a western cowboy on horseback rather than the normal bag of apples. Larousch began production in 1875 and a mould such as this was considered a tool of the trade with its tight hinges for a very secure fit in the production of such a large chocolate delicacy. During WWII many chocolate factories were either forced to shut down or were bombed, leaving very little standing. In order to save these articles of history some molds were buried so as not to be melted down for the use of their metal content, or were lost to the ravages of war. Great estate find, a rare antique Anton Reiche chocolate mold featuring Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf. The entire mold measures approx. 3 1/4″ by 3″ and 5/8 thick. The clips are all in place and are pretty tight, I have not tried to remove them. Clearly marked”Anton Reiche Dresden”8381′. This mold could use a good cleaning and I will leave that up to it’s new owner. A great chocolate mold for your collection!
