Beautiful mold that I do believe to be a Buffalo but could also be seen as a Cow. Two condition issues to mention. Bottom hinge needs to be tightened. When picked up it droops a bit because it isn’t tight. The pin looks like it is still in there. Secondly, a piece is missing by the foot. Not sure if this was intentional or it is broken. Heavy mold weighing 650 grams or 1.4lbs. Solid brass or copper as it is non magnetic. 5.5″ long and 3.25″ tall. I don’t see any makers marks. You can see patina on the metal. Photos will be best for condition description. I have described this item to the best of my knowledge and photographed it to the best of my ability. THE MOLD IS OF A SITTING RABBIT. THE MOLD ID A HEAVY METAL AND HAS 3 HINGES THAT KEEP THE MOLD SHUT. THERE IS ONE THAT OPENS THE BOTTOM AND 2 ON THE SIDES. ALSO SODDERED ONTO THE MOLD IS A BRASS TIP. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A COMMERICAL MOLD USED IN FACTORIES OR STORES AND THEY WERE HUNG OR STACK WITH THE BRASS END. THERE IS HAND SODDER ON THE THE MOLD. MEASURES 8 1/2 IN HEIGHT. ALL THE HINGES OPEN AND CLOSE. THIS IS A GREAT MOLD FOR THE COLLECTOR.. A NICE EARLY PIECE FROM AMERICA.. JUST CAME OUT OF AN ESTATE. A LOVELY ADDITION TO YOUR COLLECTION. DON’T PASS IT BY. This mold is one of the amazing that I’ve ever had and certainly one of the oldest. This is brass and dates back to about 1900. I have no idea what sort of animal this is. It looks like some sort of fantasy sea creature. Or some sort of lizard hybrid. Whatever it is, it’s fantastic! The detail on this is just exquisite. Stamped Letang Fils Paris 108 R. Vieille du Temple on one side. Stamped 2748 on the other. That is the mold number. A little over 7 inches tall and about 5 1/2 inches wide at the widest part. This mold is one of the amazing that I’ve ever had and certainly one of the oldest. This is brass and dates back to about 1900. The detail on this is just exquisite. Stamped Letang Fils Paris 108 R. Vieille du Temple on one side. Stamped 2742 on both sides. That is the mold number. A little over 8 inches tall and a little over 5 inches wide at the widest part. In excellent condition for being over 100 years old. Has one tiny bend in the flange of the mold by the tail. Some of the earliest molds were made of brass.
