I initially thought it was a pepper grinder or a mortar of sorts but it has a bow on the front so I have suggested it be a Christmas / Holiday mold. If you know what it is, I would be interested to hear. It is numbered 556 and is very heavy weighing 347 grams or 3/4 of a pound. About 3.5″ high and 3″ at the widest part where the hinge is. Signs of age and patina to the metal. Hinges are solid and functional. Photos will best describe condition.
