Here’s an early and very sturdy metal chocolate mold. This mold is likely European and probably German. It is a heavy gage metal with two hinges (bottom hinge drops the flat base while the overhead hinge separates the two halves of the chicken), all held together by three strong clasps. A little variety from your normal rabbit or Santa Claus, this is a chicken in a basket! The dimensions are 5-1/2″ x 6″ x 3-1/4″ overall with the figure being about 5″ x 5-7/8 x 3. As mentioned, it is a heavy gage silvered metal with most of the silvering missing on the exterior but good on the interior. There are no marks whatever on the piece.
